My Brother Can’t Possibly Be a Fallen Magical Girl Chapter 6 Part 3
Chapter 6: The Magical Girl Guardians (Page 3)
There was indeed a long silence on the other end of the phone before a tightly clenched voice finally spoke up: "Xiao Qing, I’ll let today’s incident slide for now. But you need to go home—**right now, immediately, without delay.** Your brother has called your phone over a dozen times without an answer, and he’s called me several times too. If I hadn’t stalled him, the police would already be out looking for you."
"Ugh, my brother’s such a worrywart. So what if I didn’t come home on time? It’s not a big deal!"
Bai Youqing was deeply touched on the inside, but on the surface, she wore a look of annoyance, while muttering under her breath.
"Stop dawdling. Call your brother right now and let him know you’re safe. Don’t make your family worry. And then, write a 10,000-word reflection essay. Bring it along with your Green Vine Star to the high school office tomorrow!"
"Nooo! Sister Yu Yi, I’ve only had my Green Vine Star for less than a day!"
"Hmm?"
"Uh... never mind. I’ll follow your orders, Captain."
Seeing Xia Qing’s gleeful expression beside her, Bai Youqing felt a surge of irritation.
She opened WeChat and glanced at the red dot indicating a friend request but didn’t accept it. Then, she clicked on a profile picture of a small purple flower and began spinning a blatant lie: "Hey, useless brother, why did you call so many times? I was at a haunted house with my classmate, and we didn’t even get halfway through before the staff kicked us out. I wasted my ticket money! You owe me compensation!"
The reply came quickly: "How much? 【Sweat】.jp"
"Two hundred!!"
"That’s too much. Last time I went, it was only 79."
"Fine, 160. And my classmate didn’t get to enjoy it either, so I’m not even charging you for emotional damages."
Seeing the red envelope pop up, Bai Youqing grinned and waved her phone triumphantly.
"Haha, done. My brother’s so easy to fool."
This scene made Xia Qing, standing nearby, feel a twinge of envy. If only her parents were as easygoing.
Han Xue, who had been silently keeping watch, also showed a flicker of emotion, though it was quickly masked by her usual calm demeanor.
"Alright, the disaster beast’s aura has disappeared, but you should still be careful on your way home."
"Got it. See you tomorrow, Senior Xia Qing, Senior Han Xue."
Bai Youqing glanced at the darkening sky, pushing down the lingering fear in her heart as she bid farewell to her two seniors.
There were some things she didn’t mention. The chubby boy from earlier seemed vaguely familiar—he might have been a classmate of hers, though he had always been extremely low-profile. What stood out was that during the encounter, his attention had been entirely focused on the two magical girls, not her. She guessed he hadn’t recognized her.
Not long after the magical girls left the wetland park, a magical girl in cyan attire descended slowly from the sky.
Her eyes carefully scanned the area, but after a while, she still couldn’t find any trace of the disaster beast. Scratching her head in confusion, she muttered, "Huh? I could’ve sworn I sensed the aura of the Deep Abyss around here..."
