The Warden of the Witches Chapter 208

Chapter 208: Come Fight Me If You Have the Guts

In the afternoon, Aiden appeared in Abigail's summoning space as promised.

As soon as he entered, he noticed several pairs of eyes focusing on him. Even though the mist obscured their expressions, he could still feel the sharp gazes of the five people opposite him.

Facing such a tense atmosphere, Aiden spoke with a hint of amusement, "You all look a bit scary. Didn't sleep well last night?"

It was only natural for Aiden to assume they had trouble sleeping. The Witch Gathering was a loose organization where each member acted independently. The Grand Witches, apart from Abigail, were involved in this conflict not for the survival or honor of the group but mainly to obtain divinity for themselves.

The Witch Gathering had been busy with the cult for so long, only for Aiden to snatch away all the spoils at the last moment. Anyone would be furious and sleepless over such an outcome.

"Fuck you, bastard! Spit out my share of the divinity!" Hasbinis couldn't hold back and slammed the table, roaring at Aiden like a lion.

Aiden didn't even look at hasbinis. Instead, he stared into Abigail's eyes and pointed at hasbinis, "Can you make her shut up?"

"Screw you! Since when is it your turn to speak here, outsider!?" Hasbinis cursed.

However, Abigail spoke in a calm tone, "hasbinis, quiet down."

"What!?" Hasbinis looked at Abigail in disbelief, "Abigail, are you out of your mind why are you siding with this kid—"

At this moment, qimora, who was sitting next to hasbinis, turned her face and directly interrupted her, "That's enough, hasbinis. Stop chirping like a sparrow and shut up!"

"Shut up!" Lamia also echoed in a hoarse voice, "We're negotiating, not squabbling."

The three Grand Witches were more clear-headed than the impulsive hasbinis. With the divinity and the relics now in Aiden's possession, the negotiation leverage was on his side. If Aiden wanted to keep everything for himself, he could simply cut off all contact with them. The fact that he was present at the negotiation indicated that there was still room for bargaining over the spoils.

More importantly, Aiden Galord possessed extensive knowledge of divine words, and they suspected he knew more than one divine axim.

Now that Aiden had taken all the divinity of a saint, if he knew all the divine words of a particular authority, he might have become a "saint" close to that authority. His strength might not be inferior to Abigail or the Saint nawei. It would be unwise to oppose such a powerful adversary directly. If it weren't for the bountiful Mother cult determination to eliminate Abigail and seize the Incubation Egg, the Witch gathering wouldn't have needed to confront such a troublesome opponent head-on.

"Let's cut to the chase," Abigail said, getting straight to the point. "What exactly do you want?"

"The key is not what I want, but what you can offer me. If you want what I have, you must show some sincerity," Aiden replied calmly.

From the Witch gathering willingness to negotiate, he could sense that they still hadn't figured out his full capabilities. Their apprehension had only increased after he took all the divinity from the Saint nawei. Under these circumstances, he needed to project strength to maintain control of the negotiations.

"What do you mean by what you have? We did most of the work in defeating the bountiful Mother cult. We just want our fair share back," Vera protested.

"Interesting. We never set any terms for dividing the spoils. How can you say what your fair share is?" Aiden chuckled. "And may I ask who it was that left me hanging during the planned attack, and luring the enemy towards me? Now you want to talk about trust and integrity? Aren't you embarrassed?"

"Oh, we knew all along that the real saint was the sister Nawei, so we left the easy target to you, Warden," qimora said, blatantly lying without any hesitation.

"Don't take me for an idiot," Aiden said, too lazy to refute her lie.

"That was an unforeseen situation. All the nuns in the mine were impregnated with chimera beasts, and we were the ones who dealt with the main defensive forces of the enemy," Lamia explained calmly. "Besides, if we hadn't been there to intercept, the Saint would have escaped long ago. In the end, it was us who bore the pressure and held her back."

"But it's a fact that you planned to use me as a pawn to stall the saint, isn't it? And who was the one who ultimately killed the Saint? Do I need to remind everyone?" Aiden said, spreading his hands to emphasize his point.

"So, what you're saying is, there's no room for negotiation?" Abigail asked coldly, her words always striking at the heart of the matter.

"I'm not asking for an exorbitant price. Although I took all the divinity, the Saint remains still contain all the divine words of the 'reproduction' authority. How about this: I'll keep the divinity, and you can have the remains," Aiden replied.

Aiden knew that monopolizing all the divinity was already quite a harsh move. Abigail only wanted the divine words of 'reproduction,' so the deal wouldn't be a loss for her personally, but the other Grand Witches would surely not agree.

"Are you kidding me? After all this time, you're just here to mess with us? I'll kill you today, you brat!" As expected, Hasbinis exploded, standing up as if ready to climb over the table to attack him.

"Already lost your temper? It seems miss hasbinis brain capacity is as small as a bird's," Aiden taunted,

knowing that in this projected "chat room," hasbinis couldn't actually harm him. He adopted the demeanor of a keyboard warrior from his previous life, daring her to "come fight me if you have the guts."

"Enough, sir. I cannot accept such terms," Abigail interjected. "They followed my call to fight against the bountiful Mother cult. I owe them an explanation."

Abigail couldn't accept Aiden's proposal. While it might seem favorable to her personally, agreeing to it would surely alienate the other Grand Witches, turning the negotiation into her and Aiden against the rest. The current standoff between the Witch gathering and Aiden would immediately fracture, and she couldn't take such an obvious bait.

Aiden, knowing full well that Abigail wouldn't accept, responded smoothly, "So, you mean to say I should share the divinity with each of them? Four people—that's quite a high price. Are you suggesting that you will pay the cost on their behalf?"
